Job Description:

Expert Listing is revolutionizing how Nigerians access verified real estate by connecting

buyers and tenants directly to landlords, Airbnb owners, and developers. We’re looking for a

proactive, business-minded In-House Legal Counsel to join our team. You will be responsible

for providing legal guidance across the business covering corporate, real estate, technology, regulatory, and commercial matters. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to

ensure legal risks are identified and mitigated while enabling innovation and growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including SaaS agreements, property leases, vendor contracts, partnership agreements, and NDAs.
• Corporate Governance: Support company secretarial functions, including board resolutions, cap table management, shareholder agreements, and corporate filings.
• Real Estate Law: Advise on real estate transactions, licensing, leasing, zoning, and development issues relevant to the platform and business model.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant laws (real estate, fintech, consumer protection, GDPR/data privacy, etc.) in multiple jurisdictions.
• Risk Management: Identify and mitigate legal risks related to product launches, operations, and commercial strategy.
• Dispute Resolution: Handle pre-litigation issues, manage external counsel, and support dispute resolution processes if needed.
• Policy Development: Draft internal legal policies, T&Cs, and privacy policies in collaboration with compliance and product teams.
• Due Diligence: Investigate and verify property documents
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product, engineering, sales, and operations teams to embed legal thinking into day-to-day decisions.
  

Requirements

• Qualified lawyer with a current practicing certificate
• 3–5 years of PQE (Post-Qualification Experience), ideally with a mix of private practice and in-house experience
• Experience with real estate law, commercial contracts, and/or tech sector (especially SaaS or platforms)
• Strong understanding of compliance, intellectual property, and data privacy regulations
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, startup environment with changing priorities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
