Practice Description:
We operate from Lagos and Abuja. At the centrepiece of our set is a sophisticated international investigation and business crime practice, with significant domestic and cross-border expertise in complex “white-collar” criminal litigation, asset-tracing and recovery matters. Our firm also has significant experience in industrial/labour law, international anti-corruption law, international criminal law and insolvency.
Our ‘white-collar’ and business crimes practice has focused mainly on representing sovereign States, major oil and gas corporations, and ultra-high-net-worth individuals in complex corruption and fraud cases, often with cross-border elements. We have vast experience in dealing with matters involving electronic and financial crimes, allegations of insider trading and other violations of investment and securities laws, corruption; embezzlement and abuse of public office; money laundering and counterfeiting.
Role Description:
Charles Anthony Lawyers is looking for a lawyer with previous criminal, insolvency and commercial litigation experience and ideally some supervision/management experience. The Applicant should be passionate about teamwork and developing others, as well as supporting the wider legal practice. The role involves requires effective management supervision of staff in the team, dealing with complicated and sometimes high-profile legal work, as well as supporting the lead counsel to maintain strong client relationships.
Responsibilities :
- conducting legal research and analysis
- managing and supervising complex legal cases from inception to resolution
- drafting and reviewing court processes, opinions etc.
- representing clients in legal proceedings and dispute negotiation meetings
- dealing with complicated and sometimes high-profile legal work
- writing legal articles for public consumption
- Managing and supervising junior counsel
- supporting the lead counsel to maintain strong client relationships
- managing relationship with clients
- building high-performance culture within the team
- playing an important role in supporting career progression and developing litigation lawyers of the future
Requirements :
- LLB degree from an accredited university (LLM & relevant certifications are an advantage)
- Call to the Bar Certificate/Entitlement to Practice law
- 5 to 10 years of post-qualification experience practicing law with significant experience in criminal, insolvency and commercial litigation
- Strong analytical, research, and communication (oral & written) skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Demonstrable ability to simultaneously manage multiple cases and projects
- Demonstrable leadership and mentoring ability
- - Digital Literacy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint & OneDrive
- Proficiency in using legal technologies (LawPavilion, LexisNexis etc.)
Salary :

- Secondary, FCT Abuja (from time to time)
- Other states in Nigeria or abroad (specific assignments)
