Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Manage clients’ cases from commencement to conclusion.
- Take clients’ briefs or instructions and conduct client interviews effectively.
- Conduct in-depth legal research and advise clients accordingly.
- Develop litigation strategies.
- Conduct trial preparation activities, including witness preparation conference, gathering admissible evidence, preparing cross-examination questions, and objections.
- Confidently represent clients and argue applications before any court or tribunal.
- Draft and review court processes including originating processes and pleadings, written addresses, interlocutory applications, appeal notices and briefs etc.
- Liaise with court officials and opposing counsel on matters.
- Provide prompt and regular updates to clients on the status of their matter.
- Maintain an effective line of communication and relationship with the client.
- Endorse case files with all updates and maintain a current report of all cases assigned.
- Manage transactions from commencement to conclusion.
- Draft and review contract/legal documents, including Wills, Service Level Agreements, and Trust
- Deeds, Concession Agreements and Deed of Assignment.
- Demonstrate a detailed knowledge/experience on commercial transactions (including, but not limited to, general knowledge of Company Law, mergers & acquisitions, legal due diligence process
- Corporate Restructuring, business set up and advisory, Corporate governance, compliance practice, and Company Secretarial.
- Write Legal opinions and legal advisory.
- Procure letters of administration, Governor’s consent on behalf of clients.
- Liaise with regulators and government officials on different transactions.
- Provide prompt and regular updates to clients on the status of their brief. Perform any other task assigned by the Supervisor.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor of Laws degree from a reputable university
- A Call to Bar certificate
- Membership of the Nigerian Bar Association
- A minimum of 3 years post-call experience in a law firm
- Excellent writing, research and reporting skills
- Good command of the spoken and written English language
- Ability to collaborate with others.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work under a certain level of pressure.
- And an outstanding time-management ability
