About the Role
They are seeking a talented and creative individual to join their team as Head of Content & Media to champion Storytelling and Content Marketing. This person will be responsible for developing and executing a content strategy that tells the stories of our community and the greater diaspora, and engages our audience across various digital platforms, including Twitter, LinkedIn, and our newsletter. The ideal candidate should have exceptional storytelling skills, be a skilled content writer, editor and know how to apply marketing techniques to drive engagement, traffic, and revenue.
What You Will Do
Develop and execute a content strategy that tells the stories of African professionals and creatives from around the world, and engages our audience across various digital platforms, including Twitter, LinkedIn, and our newsletter.
Create and publish compelling, high-quality content that resonates with our target audience and drives engagement, including articles, blog posts, social media posts, and newsletters.
Edit and proofread all content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency with our brand voice and style guidelines.
Collaborate with the Afropolitan team to develop and execute marketing campaigns that support the company's goals and objectives.
Monitor and analyze performance metrics to measure the effectiveness of our content and make data-driven decisions to improve engagement, traffic, and revenue.
Engage with our audience on social media platforms, including responding to comments and messages, and cultivating relationships with influencers and partners.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices to ensure our content and social media strategies are innovative and effective.
Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Marketing, Communications or related fields. (Nice to have)
3-5 years of experience in content marketing, journalism, or related field.
Exceptional storytelling skills and ability to develop engaging narratives across various digital platforms.
Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
Knowledge of SEO and social media marketing best practices.
Experience managing social media accounts and engaging with audiences on Twitter, LinkedIn, and other platforms.
Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment.
Work flexible hours within a fully distributed team
