Talent Development Specialist - JD
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Talent Development Specialist to join our client, A prestigious management consulting firm located in Lagos, Nigeria. This well-established organisation has built a reputation dedicated to empowering people and organisations to reach their full potential.
As a Talent Development Specialist your primary responsibility will be on enhancing employee skills, performance, and growth within an Organisation. Your responsibilities center around designing, implementing, and managing programs that support workforce development and Organisational effectiveness.
- 2:1 Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Social Sciences, Education or related fields
- Master’s degree an added advantage
- Membership of CIPM and related certifications a plus
- Minimum of 4 years work experience in Talent & Development
Training & Development
- Assess employee training needs through surveys, interviews, and performance reviews.
- Design, develop, and deliver training programs (in-person, virtual, or blended).
- Coordinate internal and external training resources, vendors, or facilitators.
- Track and evaluate training effectiveness and ROI.
Talent Management
- Support performance management processes (e.g., goal-setting, appraisals, feedback systems).
- Identify and nurture high-potential employees.
- Collaborate with leadership on succession planning strategies.
Learning & Career Development
- Develop career pathing frameworks and individual development plans.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning and upskilling.
- Maintain and manage learning management systems
Organisational Development
- Assist with change management initiatives and culture-building programs.
- Support team effectiveness and leadership development efforts.
- Use data to identify gaps and opportunities in Organisational performance.
Employee Engagement & Retention
- Partner with HR and leadership to improve employee experience.
- Conduct surveys, analyze results, and implement improvements.
- Facilitate workshops, coaching sessions, and employee recognition initiatives.
Compliance & Recordkeeping
- Ensure training programs meet regulatory or industry standards.
- Maintain accurate records of employee development activities.
Financial Understanding/Business Growth:
- Knowledge of how talent development service offering contributes to company profitability
- Knowledge of financial and business principles
- Ability to develop winning proposals
- Ability to deliver set targets
- Strong understanding of negotiation variables for effective pricing to balance profitability
- Strong collaboration skill with business development unit to achieve set targets
Leadership & Team Effectiveness:
- Ability to work with teams and support TDM in achieving team goals.
- Collaboration with HR to promote continuous learning and improvement within the business arm.
- Coaching team members to improve productivity.
- Delegate and communicate tasks effectively to team members clearly.
Product Knowledge (Talent Development):
- Demonstrates strong knowledge of talent and development solutions, products and services.
- Demonstrates knowledge of human resource principles, practices and regulations.
- Ability to facilitate training on some of the company’s products and services.
- Ability to understand and communicate training solutions and tools that align with client needs.
- Participation in industry and career development programs.
Training Needs Assessment (TNA):
- Proficient in analysis to identify skill gaps and development needs across departments.
- In-depth knowledge of client scoping techniques to determine training requirements.
- Skilled in data analysis from performance appraisals, surveys and business goals to inform learning initiatives.
Learning Delivery & Facilitation/Learning Technology/LMS Administration:
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills for in-person and virtual sessions.
- Application of TQM principles across all service offerings.
- Proficient in implementing evaluation models to track learning effectiveness and business impact.
- Ability to develop training materials - manuals, e-learning modules and presentations.
- Knowledge of interactive methods to increase learner engagement.
- Application of project management principles for end-to-end execution.
- Proficient in applying instructional design principles (e.g., ADDIE, Bloom’s Taxonomy) to create effective learning experiences.
- Proficiency in managing LMS and e-learning tools (Articulate, Captivate, Moodle).
- Ability to incorporate blended learning, microlearning and mobile learning into programs.
Client Relationship & Stakeholder Management:
- Capacity to build and nurture client relationships and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to lead consulting engagements, from discovery to delivery and impact assessment.
- Ability to collaborate with Business Growth Manager to achieve business results.
Communication:
- Networking skills to manage relationships.
- Strong capacity to engage clients at public events.
- Proficiency in verbal and non-verbal communication to build rapport with stakeholders.
- Ability to communicate learning objectives, training benefits and outcomes to stakeholders.
Instructional Design & Content Development:
- Proficient in applying instructional design principles to create effective learning experiences.
- Ability to develop training materials - manuals, e-learning modules and presentations.
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration:
- Ability to collaborate with HR, department heads and subject matter experts to align training with performance goals.
- Proficiency in managing vendor relationships.
- Nurturing relationships with internal/external facilitators.
Documentation & Time Management:
- Ability to manage multiple learning initiatives, training calendars and deadlines simultaneously.
- Meticulous in keeping training records to track learner progress.
