Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and strategic Sustainability Manager to lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of sustainability initiatives across their organization This role is instrumental in enhancing the organization’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance and embedding sustainability into core business functions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing a sustainability strategy, implementing ESG initiatives, measuring and reporting performance, and engaging internal and external stakeholders to advance the company’s sustainability agenda.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement a company-wide sustainability strategy aligned with organizations long-term goals and values.
* Identify, assess, and manage sustainability risks and opportunities across operations, supply chains, and communities.
* Integrate sustainable practices into business processes, including production, supply chain, procurement, and waste management.
* Conduct sustainability assessments, audits, and data analysis to monitor performance and identify areas for improvement.
* Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to ESG, ensuring regular performance measurement and reporting.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of sustainability trends, frameworks, and regulations, including IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles, GRI Standards, SASB, ISO 14001, and ISO 26000.
* Engage with internal and external stakeholders to promote sustainability awareness, education, and participation.
* Lead training and capacity-building programs to strengthen sustainability competencies across the organization.
* Collaborate with regulatory bodies, industry partners, and certification agencies to ensure compliance with relevant sustainability standards.
* Prepare internal and external sustainability reports, communicating progress and achievements to stakeholders.
* Support sustainable procurement initiatives and foster supplier engagement on environmental and social standards.
* Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on ESG trends, regulatory requirements, and investment opportunities.
Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Sciences, or a related discipline.
* Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in a sustainability-focused role within a corporate or consulting environment.
* Proven expertise in ESG frameworks, sustainability standards, and reporting methodologies.
* Minimum of 3 years of experience in sustainability reporting using global reporting standards.
* Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and project management skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence diverse stakeholders.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and research tools.
* Willingness to travel within Nigeria, including visits to remote operational locations.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₦600,000.00 - ₦1,000,000.00 per month
