Job Title: Fume Extraction System Operator

Salary: 300,000 – 350,000#
Job Summary:
We are hiring for our client a fume Extraction System Operator who will be responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining fume extraction systems (such as scrubbers, bag filters, ESPs, ducts, and blowers) used in industrial processes to ensure the safe and efficient removal of hazardous gases, fumes, and airborne particles from the workplace. The operator will ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations and supports maintenance and inspection routines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor fume extraction systems during production processes.
- Inspect system components regularly (e.g., ducts, fans, filters, scrubbers, chimneys) to ensure proper functioning.
- Clean, replace, or maintain filters, nozzles, mist eliminators, and other system parts as required.
- Maintain system logs, record pressure, temperature, flow rates, and other critical parameters.
- Report and troubleshoot abnormal conditions or system malfunctions.
- Assist in preventive and corrective maintenance of the fume extraction system.
- Ensure all emissions are within regulatory limits and support regular environmental audits.
- Coordinate with production and maintenance teams for shutdown and start-up activities.
- Follow all safety guidelines and use proper PPE (personal protective equipment).
- Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping around the fume extraction area.
Requirements:
- Education: ITI/Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or related field.
- Experience: 1–3 years in operation of pollution control or fume extraction systems in industrial settings (steel, foundry, fabrication, chemical, etc.).
- Skills:
- Basic knowledge of mechanical systems, ducting, and ventilation.
- Ability to read and interpret gauges, flow meters, and operating manuals.
- Understanding of safety and environmental regulations (e.g., CPCB/SPCB norms).
- Troubleshooting ability and attention to detail.
Working Conditions:
- Industrial environment with exposure to heat, dust, fumes, and noise.
- May require shift work, including nights and weekends.
- Use of PPE is mandatory.
