Role Overview
We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Executive Associate to join our legal team. The successful candidate will support a wide range of legal matters relating to civil and commercial litigation, property transactions, and general legal advisory services.
This position is suited for a junior-level associate who is eager to build expertise in core areas of legal practice while contributing meaningfully to client matters and supporting senior team members. You will be expected to conduct legal research, draft legal documents, assist with real estate due diligence, and appear in court under supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Dispute Resolution & Litigation Support
- Assist in preparing legal opinions, pleadings, motions, and briefs in civil and commercial disputes.
- Conduct legal research and draft memoranda on case law, statutes, and regulatory issues.
- Attend court proceedings, hearings, and client meetings, under supervision.
- Manage case files, timelines, and documentation to ensure efficient matter handling.
- Support in negotiation and settlement discussions where required.
Real Estate Advisory
- Conduct title searches and legal due diligence for real estate transactions.
- Draft and review property-related contracts such as sale agreements, leases, and tenancy documents.
- Liaise with registries and government agencies for land documentation and property verification.
- Support clients with regulatory compliance and documentation relating to land use, transfer, and perfection of titles.
General Legal & Administrative Support
- Draft correspondence, legal reports, and client advisory notes.
- Maintain accurate legal files and document repositories for assigned matters.
- Track key dates, deadlines, and deliverables related to ongoing cases and transactions.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure prompt delivery of legal services.
Qualifications & Requirements
- LL.B from a reputable institution; B.L from the Nigerian Law School.
- 1–3 years post-call experience in a law firm or legal department, preferably with exposure to litigation and/or real estate law.
- Strong legal research and drafting skills.
- Good understanding of court procedures, civil practice rules, and land documentation processes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional demeanor with a willingness to learn and grow within the firm.
