Responsibilities:

Medication Preparation & Dispensing:

• Assist in the preparation and dispensing of prescription medications.
• Measure, mix, count, label, and record dosages according to prescription orders.
Package and label medications accurately.

Customer Service:

• Greet customers and answer questions regarding prescriptions, drug interactions, or medication storage.
• Handle prescription drop-off and pick-up efficiently and confidentially.
Manage phone inquiries and coordinate refills with patients and providers.

Inventory Management:

• Maintain stock levels by ordering, receiving, and stocking medications and supplies.
• Check for expired medications and assist with proper disposal.
Maintain a clean and organised work area.

Administrative Support:

• Enter prescription and patient data into pharmacy software systems.
• Process insurance claims and resolve billing issues.
Assist with documentation, reporting, and compliance with pharmacy regulations.

Compliance & Safety:

• Follow all state and federal laws related to pharmacy practice.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
Support the pharmacist in quality assurance activities.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
• Completion of a Pharmacy Technician training program (preferred)
• Valid Pharmacy Technician certification (e.g., PTCB or ExCPT) [as required by state]
• State pharmacy technician license/registration [if applicable]
• Prior experience in retail or hospital pharmacy setting (preferred)
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency with pharmacy software and POS systems
Knowledge of basic pharmaceutical terminology and calculations
