Job Vacancy –Supervisor (in a pharmacy)
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the work of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and support staff.
- Assign daily duties, monitor performance, and provide on-the-job training.
- Ensure staff follow professional and ethical pharmacy practices.
- Ensure all pharmacy operations comply with legal requirements and professional standards.
- Maintain proper storage, handling, and security of medicines, especially controlled substances.
- Implement and monitor standard operating procedures (SOPs) for dispensing and recordkeeping.
- Monitor medicine stock levels, place orders, and coordinate with suppliers.
- Prevent stockouts, overstocking, and expiry of drugs.
- Ensure accurate documentation of stock movements and returns.
Requirements:
- Educational & Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy (BPharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD).
Experience
- Minimum of 2–5 years’ experience in a retail, hospital, or community pharmacy.
- Prior experience in a supervisory or managerial role is an added advantage.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of medicines, dosage forms, drug interactions, and regulations.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong customer service and patient counselling abilities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in dispensing.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to resolve conflicts and handle escalated issues.
- Proficiency in pharmacy software and POS systems.
- Must be a registered and licensed pharmacist with the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) or relevant body.
- Valid annual practicing license.
