Job Vacancy – Locum Pharmacist
Location: Lugbe Abuja
A Locum Pharmacist is a qualified pharmacist who works on a temporary or short-term basis to fill staffing gaps in pharmacies, hospitals, or other healthcare settings. Their role is essentially to step in and provide seamless pharmacy services without disruption.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure correct labeling and dosage instructions.
- Advise patients on how to use medications safely.
- Accurately prepare, check, and dispense prescription medicines to patients.
- Review prescriptions to ensure they are clinically appropriate.
- Provide guidance on side effects, interactions, and proper storage of medicines.
- Support patients with chronic conditions through medication reviews.
- Ensure correct labeling and dosage instructions.
- Advise patients on how to use medications safely.
Requirements:
- Educational & Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (BPharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD).
Experience
- Previous experience working in a community or hospital pharmacy (often 1–2 years, but some locum roles accept fresh graduates who have completed internship and NYSC).
- Familiarity with various pharmacy software systems is an advantage.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceuticals, drug interactions, and side effects.
- Excellent communication and patient counselling skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in dispensing.
- Ability to adapt quickly to different work environments.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong ethical standards and compliance awareness.
- Must be a registered and licensed pharmacist with the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) or relevant licensing body.
- Evidence of current annual practicing license.
