We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Legal Counsel to join our team in Abuja. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive legal support to the company, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, drafting and reviewing contracts, managing legal risks, and offering strategic legal advice to management.
Key Responsibilities
1. Legal Advisory & ComplianceAdvise management on legal rights, obligations, and risks in relation to company operations, contracts, and projects.
Ensure the company’s operations comply with Nigerian laws, regulations, and industry-specific requirements.
Monitor changes in legislation and ensure timely updates to company policies and procedures.
Provide guidance on employment, corporate governance, intellectual property, tax, and regulatory compliance matters.
2. Contract Drafting & Review
Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements including vendor contracts, client service agreements, partnership agreements, and NDAs.
Ensure all contracts safeguard the company’s interests and are legally enforceable.
3. Corporate GovernanceMaintain statutory records and ensure timely filing of all necessary corporate documents with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and other regulatory bodies.
Advise the Board of Directors and senior management on governance matters.
4. Dispute Resolution & Litigation Management
Represent the company in legal proceedings or coordinate with external counsel where required.
Manage and resolve disputes efficiently to protect the company’s interests.
5. Risk Management
Identify potential legal risks in projects and transactions and recommend preventive strategies.
Develop internal policies to minimise legal exposure.
6. Training & Support
Conduct internal legal trainings for employees on compliance, contracts, workplace ethics, and other relevant topics.
Support other departments with legal insights to enable smooth operations.
Education & Certification
Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from a recognised university.
Barrister at Law (B.L) from the Nigerian Law School.
Master of Laws (LL.M) or other relevant certifications (e.g., Chartered Institute of Arbitrators) is an added advantage.
Experience
Minimum of 4 years post-call legal practice experience, preferably with at least 3 years in a corporate/organisational legal role.
Proven track record in corporate law, contract law, employment law, and regulatory compliances.
Skills & Competencies

Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
High level of integrity and professional ethics.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under pressure.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools.
