We are looking for a Compliance Manager to join our Legal group; as we scale up and drive digital and financial inclusion across our markets.
As a Compliance Manager, you will become the guardian of our organizational integrity, ensuring that everything we do meets the highest legal and ethical standards as we expand across Africa. Working at the intersection of law, risk management, and business operations, you'll build the frameworks that protect our mission while enabling us to serve millions of customers with confidence and trust.
At M-KOPA, compliance isn't just about following rules—it's about building trust that enables financial inclusion. In this role, you will go beyond traditional compliance management to become a strategic architect of regulatory excellence. You will design and implement compliance systems that don't just meet today's requirements but anticipate tomorrow's challenges, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure our compliance framework scales with our growth across multiple markets.
We believe in proactive risk management and building cultures of integrity. You will develop comprehensive compliance programs, conduct thorough regulatory research, and create training initiatives that embed compliance thinking throughout our organization. Your regulatory expertise will be crucial in identifying emerging risks and crafting solutions that keep us ahead of the curve.
You'll ensure M-KOPA's operations comply with local and national laws across all our markets, serve as the Data Privacy Officer in Nigeria, and conduct legal and regulatory research to assess the impact of legislative changes. You'll coordinate training programs for employees, support policy development, and partner with departments like Legal, Internal Audit, and Risk Management to ensure effective control systems.
Part of your role involves managing compliance tools and registers, supporting investor compliance including ESMS implementation, and creating documentation that demonstrates our commitment to legal and regulatory excellence. You'll also handle regulatory filings and responses while working collaboratively across teams to maximize the compliance function's impact.
Success in this role comes from a unique blend of legal expertise and strategic business understanding. We need someone who has walked the path of complex compliance management and understands that true organizational protection lies in building systems that enable growth while managing risk. Your experience should tell a story of developing compliance frameworks that didn't just meet requirements but enhanced business operations.
We are seeking someone whose career demonstrates a deep understanding of how compliance can enable business success. Perhaps you have 5+ years of post-call experience in compliance functions, preferably with banking and finance experience, where you've built programs that transformed risk management approaches. Maybe you've been the compliance professional who anticipated regulatory changes and crafted solutions that kept organizations ahead of requirements.
Your undergraduate LLB degree and working knowledge of compliance standards and regulations should be complemented by experience in risk management and strong attention to detail. Your ability to communicate and collaborate with diverse teams should be second nature, as should your naturally structured and organized approach to complex challenges.
Most importantly, we need someone who embodies our values of integrity, excellence, and unwavering commitment to doing what's right – someone who doesn't just want a job but wants to be part of a mission that's enabling financial inclusion across an entire continent while maintaining the highest standards of legal and ethical conduct.
If this sounds like the challenge you've been waiting for, where your expertise in compliance management and regulatory excellence can truly make a difference in scaling responsible financial inclusion, we want to hear your story.
