About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Legal and Compliance Officer to join our team in Abuja. This role is critical to ensuring that our company adheres to legal standards and in-house policies. You will be responsible for enforcing regulations in all aspects and levels of business as well as providing guidance on compliance matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement internal compliance policies and procedures.
- Ensure all operations and business activities meet legal and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct periodic internal reviews or audits to ensure compliance procedures are followed.
- Collaborate with various departments to monitor enforcement of standards and regulations.
- Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develop/implement corrective action plans.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and external auditors as needed.
- Stay up to date with, and interpret, relevant laws, regulations, and best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Law.
- Minimum of 3-5 years experience in a compliance, legal, or regulatory role.
- Solid knowledge of legal requirements and procedures, especially in the Nigerian context.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High ethical standards and ability to handle confidential information.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certifications such as CCEP, ACAMS, or ICAN are an added advantage.
- Experience in tech, or startup environments.
