Job Description/Requirements
We are seeking highly qualified Chemistry professionals to support AI training projects by providing expert review, evaluation, and annotation of chemistry-related content. You will assess the accuracy of AI-generated answers, label chemistry data, and provide clear explanations to improve large language models (LLMs) in the scientific domain.
This is a remote, independent contractor role ideal for those who want flexibility while applying their chemistry expertise in a cutting-edge technology space.
Responsibilities
- Review and evaluate AI-generated chemistry content for accuracy, clarity, and completeness.
- Annotate and label chemistry data, ensuring precision and consistency.
- Provide written explanations and feedback on why answers are correct or incorrect.
- Work across various chemistry subfields: organic, inorganic, analytical, physical, and biochemistry .
- Maintain high standards of quality while balancing accuracy and efficiency .
- Collaborate asynchronously with project managers and follow annotation guidelines.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- Strong command of upper-level university chemistry topics (e.g., organic mechanisms, spectroscopy, kinetics, thermodynamics).
- Ability to spot subtle errors in chemical formulas, reactions, and conceptual explanations.
- Excellent written communication skills — able to explain complex concepts clearly and concisely.
- Comfortable working independently and managing time effectively in a remote setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) in Chemistry or related discipline.
- Teaching, tutoring, or academic instruction experience in chemistry.
- Prior experience in data annotation, AI training, or content review .
- Cross-disciplinary expertise (e.g., biochemistry, computational chemistry, materials science).

- Candidates with only surface-level chemistry knowledge (e.g., just high-school coursework) will not be considered.
- Strong chemists with poor written explanation skills may struggle in this role.
