At Broadshift Technologies, we’re all about building smart, secure fintech products that make daily payments easy for thousands of users. We’ve come a long way, and as we scale, we need someone who can help us keep everything legally tight and compliant — while still moving fast and smart.
We’re looking for a Legal Officer who’s got a solid legal foundation, can hold their own in a fast-paced environment, and is ready to dive into the world of fintech (even if it’s your first time in the space). If you’re someone who can read between the lines, simplify complex legalese, and keep things moving while staying compliant — we want to talk.
This role is equal parts legal advisory, compliance strategy, contract drafting, and regulatory alignment. You’ll work closely with product, finance, business, and external regulators to make sure we’re playing by the rules, managing risk, and ready for what’s next.
Model: Fully On-site (Ikeja)
What You’ll Be Doing
Legal & Documentation
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, SLAs, NDAs, MOUs — all the docs that keep our partnerships running smoothly.
- Help product and business teams navigate the legal landscape, offering clear, practical guidance (no jargon overload).
- Review customer terms and external-facing documents to ensure they’re legally sound.
Compliance & Regulation
- Stay on top of updates from CBN, NAICOM, NDPR, NITDA, CAC, and similar bodies.
- Support internal compliance processes, especially around data privacy, AML/CFT, and risk controls.
- Assist with filings, licensing, audits, and regulatory communication.
Governance & Licensing
- Help keep our governance processes on track — board resolutions, filings, internal SOPs, etc.
- Contribute to licensing projects (like money lender’s license or aggregator license) and ensure we’re in good standing.
Risk Management & Strategy
- Flag legal risks early and suggest smart, scalable ways to handle them.
- Work with external counsel when needed and help manage legal escalations or disputes.
What We’re Looking For
Must-Haves:
- LL.B + BL (Nigerian Bar) — this one’s non-negotiable.
- 2–4 years of legal experience — ideally in corporate, commercial, or tech-focused law.
- Strong contract drafting, legal research, and communication skills.
- Solid organizational skills — you’re comfortable managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
- A proactive mindset — you don’t just identify problems; you help solve them.
- Must be ready to work fully onsite (Ikeja)
Nice-to-Haves (Totally a Bonus, Not Compulsory):
- Interest or exposure to the fintech or financial services space.
- Experience working with startups, scale-ups, or tech-driven companies.
- Comfort with regulatory frameworks (CBN guidelines, NDPR, NAICOM rules, etc.).
- Certifications like:
- Certified Data Protection Officer (CDPO)
- Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb – Nigeria or UK)
- Compliance credentials like ACAMS, CCEP-I, etc.
Why Join Us?
- You won’t be buried under red tape. Your legal input will directly shape how we operate and grow.
- Even if you’re new to fintech, you’ll gain hands-on exposure fast, and we’ll support you along the way.
- Work alongside smart, passionate people across tech, product, and business.
- We’re serious about the work, but we keep the culture friendly, collaborative, and human.
- Expect solid compensation, HMO, pension, and room to grow.
If you’re a sharp, curious legal pro who’s excited about tech, regulation, and innovation, and you’re looking for your next big move, hit that apply button.
Let’s build the future of fintech, the right way.
