Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Cook to join our dynamic kitchen team. The Cook will be responsible for preparing high-quality dishes according to DeliciousnessNaija Catering Services' recipes and standards, ensuring consistency in taste, presentation, and portion control. This role requires a strong understanding of various cooking techniques, a commitment to food safety, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced commercial kitchen environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook a wide range of Nigerian and Continental dishes following established recipes and culinary guidelines.
- Ensure all food items are prepared to the highest standards of taste, quality, and presentation.
- Execute mise en place efficiently, ensuring all ingredients are prepped and ready for service.
- Operate a variety of kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Maintain consistency in food quality, portion sizes, and plating according to company specifications.
- Monitor cooking temperatures and ensure food is cooked to the correct doneness.
- Taste and adjust seasonings as necessary to ensure optimal flavor.
- Adhere strictly to all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations and company policies.
- Maintain a clean and organized work station, cooking area, and surrounding kitchen environment.
- Properly store and rotate food ingredients to minimize waste and prevent spoilage.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards immediately.
- Work effectively as part of a team, communicating clearly with other cooks, kitchen staff, and supervisors.
- Assist in training and guiding less experienced kitchen staff when required.
- Contribute to a positive and respectful kitchen environment.
- Assist with inventory management by properly handling and storing ingredients.
- Minimize food waste through efficient preparation and proper portioning.
Requirements:
- Proven experience (minimum 3-5 years) as a Cook or Line Cook in a commercial kitchen, restaurant, or catering environment.
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian and Continental cuisines, ingredients, and cooking techniques.
- Understanding of food safety and sanitation principles (relevant certifications are a plus).
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a passion for creating delicious, high-quality food.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items as required.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
