Job Title: Clearing & Forwarding Accounts Officer

We are seeking a Clearing & Forwarding Accounts Officer to work closely with the Clearing & Forwarding Manager in managing port-related transactions, ensuring financial accuracy in clearing processes, and facilitating smooth movement of goods through customs and terminals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the coordination of clearing and forwarding activities for imported goods
- Handle and process shipping documents, invoices, and customs entries
- Reconcile port and terminal charges, and maintain accurate financial records for each shipment
- Track and document all freight and shipping-related expenses
- Liaise with customs agents, shipping lines, and transporters to ensure timely delivery
- Support the department manager in preparing reports and managing cost controls
- Monitor and report on payment schedules, ensuring adherence to timelines
- Maintain organized records for audit and compliance purposes
Requirements:
- Degree or HND in Accounting, Maritime Studies, or related field
- 1–3 years experience in clearing & forwarding, logistics, or maritime operations
- Strong understanding of import/export documentation and processes
- Proficiency in Excel and financial reconciliation
- Detail-oriented and able to work under minimal supervision
- Must be based in or willing to work in Onitsha
