Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
Soil & Land Management:
- Conduct soil testing, analysis, and mapping to determine fertility levels and suitability for different crops.
- Develop soil management strategies to enhance productivity and maintain long-term soil health. Recommend and oversee the application of fertilisers, compost, and other soil amendments.
Crop Production & Management:
- Design and implement crop production plans, including variety selection, planting schedules, irrigation systems, and pest/disease control strategies.
- Monitor crop development and provide timely interventions to maximise yields and reduce losses. Introduce innovative crop rotation, intercropping, and integrated pest management (IPM) practices.
Research & Innovation:
- Conduct field trials, experiments, and applied research to test new seeds, inputs, and farming techniques.
- Develop strategies for improving crop disease resistance, yield performance, and climate resilience. Stay updated on global agricultural trends and adapt them to local contexts.
Advisory & Farmer Engagement:
- Provide technical advice, training, and capacity-building sessions to farm staff and smallholder farmers.
- Document and share best practices in sustainable farming and soil conservation. Collaborate with agricultural extension services, research institutions, and government agencies.
Sustainability & Environmental Stewardship:
- Promote eco-friendly and climate-smart farming practices.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and industry standards. Champion initiatives that reduce chemical usage, improve biodiversity, and conserve water resources.
Requirements:
- OND/HND/Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Crop Science, Soil Science, or related field.
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in agronomy, crop management, or agricultural research.
- Strong expertise in soil science, crop physiology, and sustainable agricultural practices.
- Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in using farm management tools, agricultural software, or GIS is an added advantage.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in diverse environments—laboratory, field, and office.

Remuneration: NGN 200,000 - 270,000 (Depending on experience)
