Job Summary
As Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Head Chef to oversee kitchen operations, lead menu execution, maintain food quality standards, and ensure smooth workflow in a fast-paced environment. You’ll be instrumental in training staff, managing kitchen productivity, and upholding hygiene and safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in planning and executing menu items
- Supervise kitchen staff, delegating duties to ensure timely service
- Monitor food preparation and cooking standards for quality and presentation
- Maintain kitchen inventory, coordinate orders, and control food costs
- Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations
- Support recruitment, training, and performance evaluation of kitchen staff
- Step in to cover any station during busy service periods
- Collaborate with management on specials, events, and seasonal menus
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Line Cook in a busy kitchen
- Strong leadership and team coordination skills
- Excellent knowledge of kitchen operations and modern cooking techniques
- Ability to handle pressure while maintaining quality output
- Culinary school training preferred but not mandatory
- Must be flexible with schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
