Job Description/Requirements
We are seeking an experienced Solar PV Design Engineer with strong expertise in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to join our Owner’s Engineering team in Nigeria. This role involves reviewing EPC contractor designs, supervising construction works on-site, and ensuring compliance with Nigerian and international standards . The engineer will also support or lead actual system designs when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and validate EPC contractor designs (SLDs, layouts, BoQs, simulations) for compliance with Client Requirements. NERC, Nigerian Grid Codes, and IEC/IEEE standards.
- Supervise construction and commissioning activities to ensure quality, safety, and adherence to approved designs and contractual requirements for schedule and budget.
- Use PVSyst, HOMER Pro, Helioscope, AutoCAD, ETAP (or similar) for design reviews and in-house system designs.
- Support feasibility studies, tender evaluations, and procurement processes.
- Prepare technical reports and recommendations for project owners.
Requirements
- B.Eng./M.Eng. in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field.
- 5+ years’ experience in solar PV design, with proven BESS integration expertise .
- Experience in Owner’s Engineering, consulting, or EPC oversight .
- Strong understanding of Nigeria’s minigrid/rural electrification sector . Excellent technical, analytical, and communication skills.
Location: Nigeria (with frequent project site visits)
