Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Corporate & Commercial Lawyer with strong expertise in corporate law, commercial law, regulatory compliance, and legal advisory services. This is a senior managerial role requiring not only exceptional technical competence in corporate/commercial legal practice but also proven leadership abilities in managing and mentoring junior lawyers.
The ideal candidate will have a track record of working in corporate law firms or similar environments, with strong exposure to company registrations, regulatory filings, licensing, compliance frameworks, and advisory services across various sectors. This role does not require court litigation, but rather a focus on corporate structuring, compliance, advisory, and legal operations management.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and advise on contracts, corporate policies, and compliance documents.
- Manage company registrations, licensing, and regulatory filings with CAC, CBN, SEC, LIRS, EFCC, AMLC, etc.
- Provide strategic legal and compliance advisory across industries (tech, oil & gas, construction, procurement, investment).
- Lead and mentor junior lawyers, ensuring high-quality outputs.
- Build and maintain strong client and regulatory relationships.
Requirements
- 6–7 years post-call experience in corporate/commercial law, preferably in a corporate law firm or similar environment.
- Strong expertise in corporate registrations, regulatory compliance, licensing, and corporate governance.
- Exceptional legal drafting and advisory skills for contracts, policies, opinions, and compliance documents.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, with a track record of supervising and mentoring lawyers or junior associates.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to provide practical, business-aligned legal solutions.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills for engaging with clients, regulators, and stakeholders.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal tech tools.
