Role: Rig Operations Manager

Key responsibilities: 

Rig Performance and Contract Delivery Management

• Monitor rig performance, identify potential issues, and ensure timely resolution to meet operational targets.
• Ensure all rig activities adhere to contractual obligations, maintaining high standards of delivery within specified timelines.
Prepare and deliver comprehensive reports on rig performance, highlighting deviations and proposing corrective actions.

Operational Planning and Strategy Development

• Assess rig capacity and allocate resources effectively to meet current and future project demands.
• Lead the development of operational and drilling strategies to enhance rig productivity and profitability.
Identify potential risks in operations, including drilling hazards and equipment failures, and develop contingency plans.

Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Management

• Manage relationships with rig owners, partners, vendors, and third-party service providers to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
Collaborate with internal teams and department heads to align operational efforts and enhance performance.

Compliance and Safety Management

• Ensure all rig operations comply with industry regulations and internal policies.
• Implement and monitor safety procedures to maintain the highest HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) standards.
Conduct regular audits and site inspections to ensure statutory and operational compliance.

Performance Monitoring and Continuous Improvement

• Track and control key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate rig performance and operational efficiency.
• Continuously review and optimize operational processes to reduce costs and improve safety and productivity.
Stay current with industry trends and innovations; recommend improvements to strengthen operational capabilities.

Administration and Reporting

• Ensure timely and accurate submission of operational reports and documentation.
• Oversee budgeting and financial control for rig operations, ensuring profitability, timeliness, and cost-effectiveness.
Conduct regular site visits to monitor rig activities and compliance with company standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field. A Master’s degree or specialized training in Oil and Gas Management is preferred.
• Proven experience in rig operations or similar roles in upstream oil and gas environments, with exposure to well engineering preferred.
• Strong knowledge of drilling operations, rig management, and HSE regulations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage diverse stakeholders and drive operational excellence.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proactive approach to risk identification and issue resolution.
• Strong understanding of industry regulatory frameworks and a commitment to compliance.
Willingness to travel and work in various locations as required by the role.
