Job Summary:


  • The Production Manager oversees the daily activities of Livespot Studios, working simultaneously on multiple projects produced by the studio.
  • Responsible for production management either at the Production Coordinator level or above and should be able to demonstrate that they can manage productions of a variety of sizes across several projects simultaneously.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Manage all production activities and operations for the studio including studio management and remote site productions, including scheduling equipment and personnel.
  • Overseeing production pipelines and implementing best practices for all current and future productions and delivery.
  • Working closely with the Line Producer and Production team to break down project concepts and scripts for purposes of scheduling and budgeting. Judgment checking all creative ideas for feasibility and most efficient execution of production design regarding budgets and production resources.
  • Executing all operational and financial aspects of production, working towards delivering the best value for money for every production.
  • Responsible for preparing, managing, and monitoring the production working budget that accounts for personnel, equipment, and locations.
  • Directs technical production staff in the set-up and operation of remote site production activities, facilitating/supervising the transportation of cast, crew, and equipment.
  • Participates in annual station budget preparation and provides input in long-range television production planning.
  • Forecasting and reporting progress and identifying and mitigating any production or expense risks.
  • Accountable for ensuring all deliverables are available in a timely manner and that post-production “paperwork” is complete and accurate.
  • Coordinates all necessary transportation and housing for the cast and crew for the duration of filming schedules.
  • Completes a daily production report on shoots, which shows how the day’s shooting went and reports any deviations from the master shooting schedule.
  • Supervise Production coordinators and Production Assistants and assist Line Producers in hiring, performance review, and terminations.
  • Produce and manage special events or projects.

Scope & Impact


  • Works on location, in the studio, and in the production office; Planning, scheduling, troubleshooting, and problem-solving. Responsible for the day-to-day running of the production studio, equipment, and all the admin involved. Will ensure the production runs smoothly and the crew and production team are properly equipped.
  • Manages the production’s money; invoice, pay bills, keep cash floats, book crews, and prepare contracts.
  • During filming, will liaise with authorities for permits and permissions, oversee location searches and release forms, create filming schedules, supervise call sheets, and manage health and safety.
  • Set up edits, book edit facilities, ensure rushes are logged and loaded and all copyright material like music and archive is cleared for use. Create edit schedules for the edit processes and pipeline while making sure that all relevant paperwork (insurance, release forms, music cue sheets, etc.) are kept up to date and stored for future reference.

Strategic Planning & Decision Making


  • This role is responsible for creating/managing the working budgets and schedules of productions of all commissioned content, original content and outsourced content. This will require planning and management of resources, with the Line Producer over short and/or long-term periods of up to a year or more in advance.
  • This role requires someone who has an appreciation for the overall goals of Livespot360 Production.
  • The personnel must be able to manage budgets of various sizes and know how to make the most of these budgets to deliver high-quality content.
  • Resource and time management is vital, and an understanding of how to balance the delivery of content with keeping the team financially responsible is essential.

Relationships


  • Build a strong relationship with the VP Livespot Studios, Line Producer, and Production team.
  • Build a strong and collaborative relationship with relevant internal teams and external parties to ensure that productions are delivered on time and on budget.
  • Having a working relationship with equipment suppliers, a reliable crew and crew agents. Being able to call on the services of people whose abilities are trustworthy.
  • Responsible for always using and maintaining the filing system of the company and in line with existing policies.
  • Undertaking any necessary duties to ensure a first-class service is provided always.
  • Being an ambassador for the business always.


Qualifications, Competency & Skills Required:


  • A university degree in a related area - communication, journalism, project management, media studies etc.
  • Previous work experience at the Production Coordinator level or above.
  • Five year’s experience in the operation of television/movie production services, which includes two years supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.
  • Organisation & Prioritisation: The ability to plan, organise, and administer a complex production with multiple people. Know what requires immediate attention and find quick solutions to enable the smooth running of each production. Adapt to a fast-paced changing environment.
  • Financial & studio management: organise, manage, monitor, forecast, and implement a budget, plan schedules and staffing accordingly, and be responsible for escalating risks and concerns.
  • Negotiation: be confident at negotiating and managing a wide range of deals and contracts, ensuring everyone understands what needs to happen, when and why.
  • Knowledge of law: confidently manage contractual rights, compliance and copyright requirements, health and safety, and data protection legislation, and ensure paperwork is in order.
  • Knowledge of broadcast rules, regulations, and guidelines - Knowledge of production and technical standards.
  • Technology: keep informed of new technologies and advancements and identify the most efficient and cost-effective ways of working.
  • Teamwork & Excellent communication: display an aptitude for good team working, support for colleagues and the ability to juggle several different tasks and personalities at any one time whilst staying calm under pressure.
  • Experienced Microsoft Office user, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Competent Internet, Email, and Google applications user.

Lagos, Nigeria; including other locations as required.


Office Hours:

08.00 to 17.00 Mondays to Fridays.
