About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Litigation Officer to join our dynamic Legal Team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience handling litigation matters, dispute resolution, and regulatory compliance, preferably within the fintech or financial services industry. You will be responsible for managing the company’s litigation portfolio, liaising with external counsel, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, and mitigating legal risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee all company litigation matters from initiation to resolution.
- Liaise with external counsel, regulators, and stakeholders on ongoing cases.
- Conduct legal research, prepare case briefs, and review court processes.
- Provide strategic legal advice to management on litigation risks and outcomes.
- Draft, review, and vet legal documents including pleadings, affidavits, and settlement agreements.
- Maintain accurate litigation records and prepare periodic reports on case status.
- Support in regulatory compliance and interface with government agencies when required.
- Ensure that the company’s litigation strategies align with business objectives while minimizing legal exposure.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized institution.
- Call to the Nigerian Bar (BL) is mandatory.
- Minimum of 5 years post-call experience in litigation and dispute resolution (fintech or financial services industry experience is a plus).
- Strong understanding of fintech regulations, CBN guidelines, and relevant financial laws.
- Excellent legal drafting, advocacy, and analytical skills.
- High attention to detail, strong negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases under tight deadlines.
