Background Information
Jireh Doo Foundation (JDF) is a National Non-government organization with over 15 years’ existence and actively intervening in the humanitarian response in the North East and other parts of the country since 2014. JDF works in 5 thematic areas of Gender and Humanitarian response, HIV and Health, Child Development, Research and Information, Single parents, and covers four states of Borno, Gombe, Nasarawa, and Benue.
Jireh Doo Foundations’ humanitarian intervention in the North East of Nigeria spans largely across two-state, Borno and Gombe states, and has been working actively in the sectors of water sanitation and hygiene (WASH), Nutrition, food security and livelihood, Protection, and Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
Jireh Doo Foundation is seeking candidates with a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent and a minimum of two years of experience working on Wash-related issues for the implementation of the NCA-funded project in the Dikwa Local government area.
Duties and Responsibilities
Promote, monitor, survey, and assess the target population in the assigned area at household and group level through daily home and field visits.
Conduct household surveys and visit in order to identify new participants to the Hygiene Promotion sessions, and Conduct hygiene promotion sessions in the field.
Arrange thematic focus group discussions, awareness, and hygiene promotion sessions.
Conduct hygiene promotion sessions within communities, schools, health center, households, distribution points.
Conduct home visiting to inform and motivate families to improve their hygiene living conditions.
Animate focus group, giving clear message on good hygiene practice.
Identify the most appropriate message regarding the target population, and working on it
Evaluate the necessary material needed for a hygiene session/activity.
Participate in the identification of beneficiaries for the WASH activities (solid waste management, water supply rehabilitation, distribution of hygiene kits etc.) if requested.
Promote Hygiene to children to help them acquire safer hygiene behaviors.
Act as a link between the organization and the beneficiaries.
Support the Field Officer in identification of WASH committees, encourage the participation of female members and lead meetings with committee members.
Ensure all work is carried out as per the community needs and project standards.
Forging relationships with key people in the community, stakeholders and community leaders to ensure proper implementation.
Regular meeting with WASH officer and other team member to communicate progress, innovations and challenges.
Develop trust, tolerance and co-operation among community members.
Provide regular updates from the field to the Project Officer;
Report any incidences related to protection of IDPs, host-communities and other vulnerable groups to the management.
Report security incidences in the field in a timely manner to the management;
Perform other relevant tasks as assigned be the Project Officer.
Establish and maintain a database for hygiene promotion sessions.
In close collaboration with the field officer establish and update the attendance sheet of hygiene promoters
Ensure timely completion of project activities according to the weekly and monthly plans.
Prepare payments sheets for enumerators and hygiene promoters from the community.
Report the progress of the work to the supervisor
Support other units of the organization as per the employee’s abilities
Support any activity that helps in reaching organizational goals, as per the employee’s abilities.

Qualification and Experience
Essential
Degree or its equivalent in Public Health or any related course
Strong communication skills.
Experience in hygiene promotion
Work experience with local communities, children, and vulnerable people
Experience in community mobilization and participation
Ability to work under pressure and in a multi-cultural environment
Ability to work in a team, interpersonal skill, and diplomacy
Rigorous and organized
Gender-Sensitive
Computer skills: Microsoft Office.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Advanced computer skills, including the ability to type quickly and to use Microsoft Office products, email,

- Ability to maintain confidentiality for sensitive issues or projects and use judgment to execute duties and responsibilities.
- Sensitive to cultural differences and an understanding of the political and ethical issues
- Fluency in English (written & spoken), Ability to speak Hausa, shuwa and or Kanuri will be added advantage Knowledge of health programs.
