Job Overview:
We are seeking a proactive and experienced HSE Manager to lead our site-based health, safety, and environmental initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in regulatory compliance, risk management, training, and fostering a safety-first culture. This role is critical to ensuring the well-being of all site personnel and minimizing environmental impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive HSE policies and procedures in line with NUPRC and other local regulatory standards.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and site inspections to identify hazards and enforce corrective measures.
- Lead investigations into accidents and incidents, identify root causes, and ensure the implementation of effective preventative actions.
- Design and deliver safety training programs on hazard recognition, emergency procedures, and safe work practices.
- Oversee emergency response plans and ensure team readiness for on-site incidents.
- Manage environmental protection efforts including waste management and pollution control.
- Maintain accurate documentation and prepare reports on inspections, trainings, and incident investigations.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (required)
Certifications:
HSE certifications such as ISPON Level 4 or equivalent from recognized HSE bodies are required.
Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years in HSE management, preferably in the construction or oil & gas sector.
- Experience working with multinational or large-scale construction companies is a strong advantage.
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Thorough understanding of Nigerian HSE laws and environmental regulations.
- Strong experience in conducting audits, assessments, and investigations.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to train and influence site teams.
- High attention to detail with excellent organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to manage emergency response plans effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
