Job Summary:
The Accountant is responsible for overseeing the hospital's financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with Nigerian healthcare regulations, and effective budgeting. This role requires a detail-oriented individual who can manage the complexities of healthcare finance while supporting the hospital's mission to deliver quality care.
Key Responsibilities
· Oversee daily financial transactions, including cash collections, bank reconciliation, and payroll processing.
· Responsible for developing and implementing financial management strategies to optimise the hospital's financial performance.
· Maintain accurate bookkeeping accounts and prepare profit and loss statements to provide insights into the hospital's financial health.
· Ensure payments are made accurately and on time to vendors and service providers.
· Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with accounting standards.
· Monitor hospital costs through proactive data analysis to enhance operational efficiencies.
· Collaborate with hospital management to develop and coordinate the annual budget.
· Analyse financial performance against budgets and forecasts, providing insights for strategic decision-making.
· Ensure timely and accurate submission of claims and invoices to insurance companies, the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), and other payers.
· Review bills and claims for accuracy, resolving discrepancies as necessary.
· Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and procedures related to financial management in a healthcare setting.
· Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
· Generate performance analysis reports, including revenue breakdowns, cost analyses, and margin assessments for management review.
· Maintain detailed records of fixed assets and oversee inventory management in collaboration with department heads.
· Work closely with the practice manager to ensure accurate financial reporting and effective communication of financial information.
Educational Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required)
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting (required); experience in a healthcare facility within Nigeria is preferred.
Required Skills:
1. Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
2. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
3. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
4. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
5. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Pay: ₦150,000.00 per month
