Job Title: Head of Planning and Compliance
Reports To: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Location: Port Harcourt, Nigeria.
Type: Full-time
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the development of annual budgets, forecasts, and business plans across all departments and projects. Drive the monthly financial performance review process, including variance analysis and management commentary. Develop and maintain financial models for scenario planning, sensitivity analysis, and business cases. Partner with operations and project teams to ensure budgets reflect project timelines, cost structures, and cash flow expectations. Compliance & Regulatory Oversight Ensure compliance with all relevant financial, tax, and industry regulations (e.g., FIRS, PENCOM, NDPR, IFRS). Serve as liaison for internal and external audits; drive timely resolution of findings. Oversee the company’s internal control framework and support control gap remediation. Liaise with internal and external auditors, ensuring resolution of audit findings and proactive control improvements. ·Work closely with the Tax and Treasury teams to monitor exposure, optimize tax planning, and manage related-party transactions in line with transfer pricing rules. Governance & Risk Management Maintain the AFC policy framework including SOPs, Delegation of Authority, and Internal Control Matrices. Support the implementation of ERP-based reporting tools for enhanced compliance tracking and dashboard reporting. Coordinate Board and management reporting as it relates to planning, control, and regulatory compliance. Team Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement Provide guidance to departments in budget preparation, financial forecasting, and control alignment. Support the CFO and EXCO with data-driven insights, board memo inputs, and decision-support materials. Build strong relationships with external consultants, auditors, and regulatory stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; master’s degree or MBA is an added advantage Professional certification: ACA, ACCA, or CPA required. PMP or ERP certification (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics, SAP FI/CO) is an advantage. Experience: Minimum of 8–10 years’ experience in finance, with at least 3 years in a senior planning or compliance role within the energy, EPC, or industrial sector.
Experience working in a company with project-based accounting, complex budgeting cycles, and multiple regulatory interfaces Proficient in financial modeling, business planning, and ERP platforms (e.g., MS Dynamics 365 BC Strong understanding of system-based workflows, automation, and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
