Job Description and Duties
Role Overview
The Head of IT will serve as the strategic and operational leader of all technology functions within the airline. This role covers the full scope of IT responsibilities—ranging from infrastructure and cybersecurity to vendor management, systems reliability, and digital product development. The Head of IT ensures that all systems across commercial, operational, and corporate departments are stable, secure, and aligned with the airline’s growth objectives. This person will play a critical role in enabling safe operations, enhancing customer experience, and driving digital transformation across the business.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technology Strategy & Leadership
Define and drive the IT strategy aligned with the airline’s commercial, operational, and growth objectives.
Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing IT team; define clear roles, career paths, and accountability.
Oversee the configuration, customisation, and daily management of Zoho applications across CRM, Finance, HR, and Support modules to align with business workflows.
Act as the primary administrator and liaison with Zoho support, ensuring seamless integration, user adoption, and system optimization.
2. Digital Presence & Product Development
Own the airline’s digital touchpoints: corporate website, booking interfaces internal portals, and customer-facing dashboards.
Lead or oversee product development efforts—whether in-house or via agency—for enhancements, new features, and UX improvements.
Coordinate A/B testing, analytics tracking, and continuous iteration based on user and commercial feedback.
3. Architecture & Integration
Define and maintain a scalable, secure technical architecture that supports current operations and future expansion.
Ensure seamless data and process integration across operations, commercial, finance, and customer systems.
Drive API strategy and enable internal/external data interoperability
4. Security & Compliance
Own cybersecurity posture: threat detection, vulnerability management, access controls, patching, and response.
Ensure compliance with relevant aviation and data regulations (e.g., data protection laws, industry-specific standards).
Conduct regular security audits, penetration testing, and staff awareness training.
Required Qualifications & Experience
8+ years in IT leadership, with at least 3 years in a senior/strategic, preferably in aviation, travel, logistics, or another complex operations industry.
Proven experience managing end-to-end airline or transportation technology stacks (or equivalent complexity).
Strong vendor negotiation and contract management experience.
Hands-on understanding of cloud infrastructure, SaaS ecosystems, API design, and web/product development.
Demonstrable cybersecurity and compliance leadership.
Excellent stakeholder management: able to translate technical tradeoffs into business implications.
Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or equivalent; advanced certification (e.g., ITIL, CISSP, AWS/GCP, PMI) a plus.
