Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and results-oriented General Manager to lead the end-to-end operations of our hardwood manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, deep industry expertise, and a track record of operational excellence in wood processing and manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing plant, including milling, production, finishing, assembly, packaging, and logistics.
- Manage the production of high-quality hardwood products including doors, pallets, boards, floors, and school furniture to meet market demand.
- Drive productivity improvements, cost efficiency, and waste reduction across all departments.
- Lead a team of department heads and ensure alignment with company goals and performance standards.
- Ensure compliance with local and international safety, environmental, and quality regulations.
- Develop production plans, forecasts, and schedules to ensure timely delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Manage raw material sourcing, supplier relationships, and inventory levels, especially rubber wood and other hardwood inputs.
- Prepare and manage annual budgets, cost projections, and operational KPIs.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, training, and innovation throughout the workforce.
- Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including suppliers, government agencies, community leaders, and customers.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Wood Technology, Industrial Management, Forestry, or a related field. A Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent) is an advantage.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the wood manufacturing or timber industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or plant/general management role.
- In-depth knowledge of hardwood and rubber wood processing techniques, machinery, and workflow optimization.
- Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams and manage large-scale production operations.
- Proficiency in production and inventory control systems, ERP software, and Microsoft Office tools.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and financial management skills.
