Role Overview:
The Finance Assistant/Bookkeeper will support Elephant Healthcare Nigeria’s internal finance function by managing accurate financial records, supporting routine payment processes, and assisting with month-end close and basic financial reporting. This role ensures smooth, accurate, and timely finance operations to support our field-based delivery model.
What you'll do:
- Manage accurate day-to-day bookkeeping, ensuring transactions are recorded promptly and accurately.
- Process and track payments (including supplier payments, reimbursements, and monthly expenses).
- Assist in preparation of monthly payroll documentation and payments.
- Maintain organised financial records for easy audit and review.
- Support the Finance team in month-end reconciliations and the financial closing process.
- Assist with preparation of basic internal financial reports and expense tracking. Work collaboratively with state-based teams to clarify financial queries and ensure smooth financial processes.
Required skills, experience and attributes:
Essential:
- Experience in bookkeeping, financial administration, or a similar finance-support role.
- Proficiency in basic accounting principles, payments processing, and record-keeping.
- Familiarity with common finance systems or bookkeeping software.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Organised, proactive, and capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently.
- Strong numeracy skills and comfort working with financial data. Discretion and professionalism in handling confidential financial information.
Desired:
- Familiarity with healthcare or NGO financial practices. Experience working in an international or multi-location organisation.
