Position Overview
Wale University is seeking a visionary, mission-driven Provost to provide strategic academic and administrative leadership during a transformative stage in the University’s growth. The Provost will be central in guiding the institution from its current licensing phase through full accreditation, while fostering academic excellence, innovation, and institutional sustainability. Reporting directly to the Governing Council, the Provost will serve as the chief academic officer and will play a key role in shaping the future direction of the University, with the possibility of becoming the Vice-Chancellor.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership for academic planning, program development, and institutional growth.
Lead the accreditation process, ensuring that all academic programs and administrative systems meet or exceed regulatory and quality assurance standards.
Build, strengthen, and sustain the academic vision of Wale University, aligning programs with the University’s mission, values, and long-term strategic goals.
Recruit, develop, and support faculty, ensuring a culture of excellence in teaching, research, and service.
Oversee curriculum development and quality assurance processes, ensuring innovative and relevant academic offerings.
Develop partnerships with government agencies, professional bodies, and international institutions to enhance institutional credibility and opportunities.
Collaborate closely with the University’s leadership team and Governing Council to ensure institutional effectiveness, resource management, and sustainable growth.
Serve as a visible ambassador of Wale University, able to communicate the mission and vision of the institution to stakeholders, donors, regulators, and the broader community.
Build an internal culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
A doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
A distinguished record of academic achievement, including teaching, research, and scholarly contributions.
At least 10 years of progressive leadership experience in higher education, preferably with exposure to accreditation processes and regulatory compliance.
Strong understanding of university governance, academic administration, and higher education policy.
Demonstrated ability to lead academic and administrative teams with vision, integrity, and collaboration.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Proven record of innovation, institutional development, or program expansion.
