Job Description
- The Procurement Officer is responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials, equipment, and services essential for the company's production activities.
- The role requires strong negotiation skills, market awareness, and the ability to manage supplier relationships to ensure cost-effective and timely procurement in line with company policies and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and procure raw materials, equipment, and services in line with production requirements.
- Evaluate and negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure advantageous terms.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential vendors.
- Monitor inventory levels and forecast procurement needs to avoid shortages or overstocking.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and value improvements in the supply chain.
- Ensure timely delivery of goods and services to support uninterrupted production operations.
- Prepare and process purchase orders, requisitions, and other procurement documentation.
- Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
- Collaborate with finance, production, and warehouse teams to align procurement activities.
Job Requirements
Education & Qualifications:
- B.Sc. / HND in Purchasing and Supply, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related disciplines.
- Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CIPS, CIPSMN) is an added advantage.
Experience:
- 3 - 5 years of proven experience as a Procurement Officer, preferably within the manufacturing sector.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Good knowledge of supply chain procedures and procurement best practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and procurement software.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Good understanding of contract terms and risk management.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and integrity.
