Privacy Policy Manager, Sub-Saharan Africa Responsibilities
- Identify and monitor privacy issues affecting Meta in Africa and spot relevant links to issues in the wider AMET region
- Analyse legislative and regulatory proposals on privacy, data security and related technology issues in Africa and advise on their policy implications for Meta
- Work closely with cross-functional teams on a range of policy issues, including strategically drafting submissions and engagement plans for local policy audiences
- Develop proactive strategies and initiatives to address key privacy policy challenges in Africa
- Engage and build relationships with relevant stakeholders including policy-makers, academics and NGOs in Africa
- Represent Meta at meetings and conferences
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in law, public affairs, international relations
- 8+ years of professional experience in a policy role with a specific focus on privacy, data security or related technology fields
- Experience managing strategic outreach with a broad range of stakeholders within policy, advocacy or in a government position
- Keen understanding of, and interest in, public policy issues related to privacy, data protection and technology
- Proficient in English
- Experience navigating cross-functional teams and dynamics, and prioritising competing project timelines
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to make sound judgments under tight deadlines
- High degree of flexibility, with a willingness to work on a wide variety of legal and policy questions
- Willingness to travel
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in a relevant field
- Fluency in French and/or an additional local African language
- Experience working in a Data Protection Authority or other regulatory bodies or trade associations
