Salary: 300,000 - 350,000 Monthly
Experience Required: Minimum of 5 years in HSE roles within the manufacturing industry
Job Summary
We are seeking a competent and experienced Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Officer to ensure compliance with occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations within our manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years experience in the manufacturing sector , strong knowledge of HSE standards, and a proven track record of implementing safety policies, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a safety-first culture. This role requires excellent leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to engage staff at all levels to foster safe work practices.
Key Responsibilities
1. Compliance & Regulation
- Ensure adherence to all applicable health, safety, and environmental laws, regulations, and industry standards. Monitor and enforce compliance with internal safety policies and procedures.

2. Risk Assessment & Hazard Management
- Identify workplace hazards and assess risks across all operations. Develop and implement corrective and preventive safety measures.

3. Policy Development & Implementation
- Establish, update, and implement HSE policies, safe work procedures, and operational guidelines. Ensure alignment with ISO standards and industry best practices.

4. Training & Safety Awareness
- Organize regular HSE training, drills, and awareness programs for employees. Provide toolbox talks and orientation for new staff and contractors.

5. Incident & Accident Management
- Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses. Identify root causes, prepare reports, and recommend corrective actions.

6. Audits & Inspections
- Conduct regular HSE inspections, audits, and risk assessments. Monitor work areas and equipment to ensure safe operations.

7. Emergency Preparedness
- Develop and implement emergency response plans. Coordinate drills to ensure readiness for fire, chemical spills, and other emergencies.

8. Safety Culture & Employee Engagement
- Promote a proactive safety culture across all departments. Act as a role model for safety leadership, encouraging staff compliance.

9. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, audits, trainings, and HSE compliance. Prepare detailed reports for management and regulatory bodies.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelors degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years as an HSE Officer within the manufacturing or industrial sector (experience in metal/mineral manufacturing is a strong advantage).
- Certifications: HSE Level 1, 2 & 3; NEBOSH, ISO 45001, or equivalent safety certifications (mandatory).
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of Nigerian and international HSE standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong ability to conduct risk assessments and safety audits.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for reporting and documentation.
- Core Competencies:

- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
- High attention to detail and sense of responsibility. Ability to influence and drive compliance across teams.
