- Supervise the development of credit portfolio plan/Risk Appetite Statement which provides guidance for the development and management of risk assets from time to time in coordination with Management
- Supervise the recognition, measurement, impairment and derecognition (including write offs) of loans and advances in line with IFRS 9
- Analyze credit risk on the Bank’s credit portfolio and propose appropriate measures to mitigate same.
- Ensure optimal Portfolio diversification and realignment guided by Capital Adequacy Requirements and prudential compliance in conjunction with top Management.
- Develop framework for portfolio and sub portfolio reporting and provide final level of review to management
- Interface with the regulators, creditors, and external auditors on Risk Assets Portfolio
- Review of macroeconomic environment, industry studies, industry ratings, risk appetite, etc. to develop the Bank’s portfolio plan.
- Initiate review and investigative analysis to determine causes of negative trends in the portfolio, if any.
- Supervise the periodic review of existing credit policies, identify areas for improvement and crafting of new ones to address observed gaps in the credit management process.
- Supervise and coordinate the regulatory/financial audit as it relates to credit risk from time to time.
- Supervise and review Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework document to ensure compliance with Basel and IFRS and other acceptable international standards for management approval as it relates to Credit Risk.
- Review update of policy & procedures relating to Basel II standards, IFRS, Prudential Guidelines, and/or BOFIA as advised by CBN from time to time.
- Supervise all activities relating to loan sale i.e. AMCON, Risk Participative Scheme, sale and release of pledged shares.
- Ensure that all regulatory returns are rendered within the stipulated timeline set by CBN.
- Ensure Compliance with the principles and policies in the Information Security Handbook.
- Supervision/coaching of subordinates, training and appraising officers involved in the credit portfolio management process.
- Coaching of the Business Units on relevant policy guidelines
Job Requirements:
- Minimum Education: First degree in economics/ business related courses. The ideal candidate should have an advanced degree or professional qualification
- Minimum experience of 10 years in banking with at least 5 years in Credit Analysis/Credit
Risk Management/Consulting. - Interpersonal skills
