MSION’s goal is to meet the needs of underserved Nigerians and dramatically improve access and use of a range of reproductive health services. MSI Nigeria Reproductive Choices is part of Marie Stopes International’s Global Partnership which is in over 37 countries worldwide and it operates in Nigeria through six service delivery channels.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Position: Grant Manager (Budgeting and Reporting)

Job Location: Abuja (FCT)

Objective

  • The Grants Manager will work with the finance and program operations units to oversee the entire lifecycle of grant programs, from identifying funding opportunities to ensuring compliance and reporting, playing a crucial role in securing and managing funds for MSI Nigeria.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for developing a well robust project budget in collaboration with programs for new business development (NBD) for each of the channels' cost centres using the approved MSI internal budget template.
  • Responsible to properly phased all approved donor budget by Channel/DRL in collaboration with programs using our internal phasing template and transfer same to the MSI project upload template for SUN upload within the set timeline.
  • Responsible for monitoring all project-related expenses by validating/providing donor/account codes on all submitted requests (PRF/PR) to prevent the recording and using the PRF tracker to track all approved requests that are in the pipeline with the procurement that are yet to be submitted to finance for posting to SUN. This process is to ensure there is no overspending in any of our project budgets.
  • Responsible to review and approved all recoding journals which must be saved in the recoding month folder before it can be posted to SUN.
  • Responsible to maintain an up to date BVA/PFR for each of project by ensuring all the required tabs/sections are properly completed with a detailed and quantifiable commentary on the variances and prepare a consolidated summary that shows all our project status by project and channel.
  • Responsible for preparing an error-free donor report and submitting it to the Finance Manager for approval two days before MSI deadline.
  • Responsible for providing a project status report for all our current projects in a consolidated format approved by the Finance Manager
  • Responsible for providing an updated funding pipeline/cost matrix monthly, including the implementation of the support office cost allocation policy by fairly attributed SO cost across our current project.
  • Responsible for coding and Posting all Intercompany related transactions and ensuring it is fully reconciled with a detailed explanation of the outstanding items.
  • Responsible for performing a monthly reconciliation on Deferred Income by the project including UNFPA donated stock with a detailed schedule that reconciles with each project balance and ensures no balances is sitting on closed project.
  • Responsible for working with P1 BH/Channel Leads to prepare an accurate rolling forecast/quarterly forecast and BP within the set internal timeline.
  • Preparation of monthly presentation report where all current project updates are provided, in terms of all project YTD/FY status, reasons for over/under spent, challenges and their implication with clear action plan to address them.

Qualification and Experience

  • A Degree in Accounting with a minimum of 2nd class Upper division or its equivalent with a Masters degree, and a recognised professional qualification such as ACA, or ACCA.
  • 8-15 years of proven experience in managing donor budgets in an international NGO.
  • Good administrative and organizational skills.
  • Ability to use SUN Accounting package, and other accounting packages
  • Advance Excel skills preferred.
  • Ability to multitask, manage a workload and produce high-quality reports, and meet deadlines
  • Good team player and flexible while working with other colleagues

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to interact effectively with other external counsel, global MSI team members, diverse in-house client groups, senior executives, and third parties.
  • Strong ability to think strategically, creatively, and innovatively.
  • High professionalism, self-motivation, efficiency, and results-oriented delivery on short timelines.
  • Ability to interact effectively with business and technical clients in a fast-paced environment.
