Background
The "Strengthening Access to People-Centred Mental Healthcare for Persons affected by NTDs in Nigeria" project, also known as the mhCAP-NTDs project, was developed to pilot an intervention model aimed at addressing inequities in access to care for Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) in Nigeria. The project focuses on improving the mental health and wellbeing of women, men, girls, and boys affected by NTDs in Nigeria and across the West Africa region. It seeks to support government and civil society actors in developing and testing a comprehensive intervention model that integrates mental health and NTD care, following both global and national frameworks.
The Project Has Three Result Areas Which Are

  • Improved governance, technical advice, and coordination by FMOH, for inclusive implementation of the mental health components of Nigeria NTD Master Plan by state and non-state service providers
  • Intervention model developed for improved access to integrated mental healthcare, social and livelihood support for women, men, girls, and boys affected by NTDs in Nigeria
  • Evidence provided for learning, and to inform scale-up of integrated mental health care, guided by the WHO Essential Care Package, in Nigeria, across the West Africa region, and through global NTD networks.

Overall aim
The Purpose Of The Exercise Is To Collect Stories Of Impact And Gather Photographs And Videos Capturing The MhCAP-NTDs Project Outcomes For Use By The MhCAP-NTD Partners (FMOH, CBM Global, RAN, HANDS, TLMN, IDEA Nigeria, University Of Jos, CBM UK, And Anesvad Foundation) In Nigeria And Outside Nigeria. Specifically, The Objectives Aligned With With The Overall Aim Include

  • Success stories of participants across the three project components (mental health services and support, livelihoods, and anti-stigma)
  • New learning and insights from project implementation to showcase as proof of concept for possible scale-up
  • Development of a documentary as an audio-visual advocacy tool for engagement with various audience (government, donors, persons with lived experience, research institutions, NTD programme implementers, policy makers, health service leaders, the general public, etc.)

Specific Requirements
Photographs/Videos need to be engaging and candid with participants involved in action activities such as – smiling to camera and positive interaction

  • Please show project participants doing tangible things e.g., livelihood activities, participating in a self-help group meeting, receiving medical support, talking with CBM/Partner staff.
  • Please show CBM staff/partner staff/NTD frontline health staff doing tangible things, e.g., talking with project participants, using equipment (Garri processing plant), doing something helpful that is real.
  • All photographs need to clearly be in a Nigeria context (rural setting), so it is obvious that it reflects the realities on the ground.
  • Where possible and relevant, please ensure images include people with a NTD or disability and that this is obvious from the photograph.
  • Partner staff with project participants – listening, smiling, laughing, engaging, and sitting together.

Types Of Photos/Videos Required
Photographs/Videos need to be engaging and candid with participants smiling to the camera and displaying positive interaction during interview segments. Positive interaction includes but not limited to:

  • Project participants at home/work - smiling to camera – clearly showing any livelihood intervention tools.
  • Partner staff with project participants – listening, smiling, laughing, engaging, and sitting together.
  • Groups/community – smiling to camera, positive interaction, clearly showing home life and context.

Specific Video/documentary
The video will be seamlessly edited to create a cohesive narrative that highlights the key components of the project, and the perspectives of various project participants interviewed.
The video documentary will involve conducting interview segments with all major parties involved in the project: direct participants (persons with skin NTDs) and their caregivers, government stakeholders (NTD and Mental Health divisions), Project staff of implementing partners, and CBM Global Project officer providing a comprehensive overview of the project with keen focus on project objectives, successes recorded, challenges faced, lessons learnt, and recommendations for future interventions.
The length of the documentary will be 4 to 6 minutes, ensuring that it is concise yet informative.

  • Short film of the CEO/Director and Project Officer of the Partners speaking about the project, its impact, and their expectations.
  • Short film of the Partners speaking about the project’s impact and their expectations.
  • Short film of government staff at the state/local level speaking about the project, and its future
  • Short film of staff of the National Coordinators of the NMHP and NTD divisions at FMOH speaking about the project and its future.

All project participants will be identified by CBM Global and the partners in advance. Consent forms will be required for all stories and photographs. For groups, this can be a recording of oral consent. CBM Global will supply forms and work with the photographer/videographer to ensure these are collected. The team will include Consulting Media Team, CBM Global Country staff (where possible), and specific consortium partner staff (names to be confirmed).
Video Cut From Original Interviews
In addition to the main documentary, shorter video cuts will be created from the original video. This cut will have a length of 30 seconds to 1 minute, focusing on giving a concise overview of the original video.
This shorter video will provide avenue for more targeted dissemination or use in various digital communication channels of CBM Global and its partners.
Final Products and Deliverables
The Consultant Will Be Expected To

  • Produce, at the inception of the contract, a work plan with clear tasks and timelines for delivering the scope of work within the delivery timeline.
  • Produce a script for the video documentary, 4 – 6 minutes in length, focused on the project implementation and impact. The script will be reviewed and approved by CBM Global.
  • Produce final version of the video documentary, 4 – 6 minutes in length, focused on the project implementation and impact.
  • Produce four final cut versions of short videos, 30 – 60 seconds in length produced from the original documentary
  • Submit still photos (both raw and edited) of the stakeholders interviewed and captured.
  • Submit all photos and videos in a secure external hard drive.

Delivery timeline
It is expected that all final products are delivered in 15 working days.
