Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Credit Analyst to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating the creditworthiness of potential and existing clients, analyzing financial data, and making recommendations on credit decisions to support sound lending and risk management practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough credit analysis of individuals, SMEs, and corporate clients by reviewing financial statements, credit reports, cash flow statements, and other relevant documents.
- Assess credit risk by analyzing historical data, industry trends, and economic conditions.
- Prepare detailed credit assessment reports and make recommendations on loan approvals, renewals, and terms.
- Determine credit limits and payment terms based on client profiles and organizational risk appetite.
- Monitor loan portfolios and flagged accounts for early signs of financial distress.
- Collaborate with business development, collections, and legal teams to ensure proper risk mitigation.
- Assist in the development and refinement of credit scoring models and internal credit risk policies.
- Stay informed about changes in credit regulations and industry best practices.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records in compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Proven experience (2–4 years) as a credit analyst, underwriter, or similar role in a financial institution.
- Strong understanding of financial statements and credit risk assessment techniques.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and credit analysis tools; experience with credit scoring systems is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple credit reviews simultaneously.
- Knowledge of regulatory guidelines is an advantage.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certifications such as CFA, ACCA, or Credit Analyst Certification (CACS).
- Experience in digital lending, fintech, or microfinance sectors.
- Familiarity with CRM tools and lending platforms.
