Job Summary

YieldEx is seeking a qualified and highly motivated Agronomist to lead and coordinate its on-farm activities across Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa, and Bauchi States. The Agronomist will oversee field operations, manage extension staff, and ensure the successful delivery of agronomic support to smallholder farmers engaged in various value chains such as Sorghum, Soybeans, Hibiscus, and Rice. This position is critical to strengthening YieldEx’s field presence and extension delivery systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise all on-farm activities across project states.
• Provide technical leadership to Extension Agents, Lead Farmers, Cluster Chairpersons, and other field personnel.
• Conduct field visits to monitor crop performance, extension activities, and compliance with agronomic best practices.
• Support the design and implementation of seasonal production plans, training modules, and extension materials.
• Facilitate field demonstrations, farmer field schools, and community sensitization sessions.
• Ensure effective data collection, monitoring, and reporting of agronomic and field-level outcomes.
• Liaise with partners, community leaders, and relevant stakeholders to foster cooperation and local ownership.
• Contribute to value chain assessments, input distribution planning, and post-harvest management support.
• Represent YieldEx in relevant agricultural fora and stakeholder engagements at state and local levels.
Perform any other relevant duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agricultural Extension, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in field-level agronomic work or extension coordination, preferably in northern Nigeria.
• Demonstrated knowledge of cereal and legume production systems.
• Proven ability to manage multi-stakeholder field operations.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Good command of English and Hausa (spoken and written) is essential.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and digital extension tools is an added advantage.
Willingness to travel extensively across the assigned states.
