What's the opportunity?We are looking for an experienced and strategic Manager of Trading & Liquidity to oversee FX operations and liquidity management across African emerging markets. This role will combine hands-on execution with leadership, focusing on driving efficiency, managing risk, and strengthening our footprint in complex and evolving environments.The ideal candidate will bring deep market knowledge, a strong understanding of liquidity and hedging strategies, and the ability to guide a team while maintaining senior relationships with financial institutions and partners in the region.
What will I be doing?
- Lead FX trading and liquidity management activities across African markets.
- Design and implement hedging strategies to manage currency and liquidity exposures.
- Analyze macroeconomic and geopolitical factors affecting EM currencies.
- Manage short-term liquidity positioning across entities.
- Optimize execution quality using trading platforms, direct counterparties, and market data tools.
- Collaborate closely with Treasury, Risk, Finance, and Local Market teams to align strategy and execution.
- Maintain strong relationships with banking partners and trading platforms.
- Execute FX operations and develop strategies using stablecoins, where applicable.
- Prepare and present market updates, trading performance, and risk exposure reports.
What skills do I need?
- 6+ years of experience in FX trading or liquidity management, with at least 2+ years in a leadership/managerial role.
- Proven knowledge of risk management and hedging techniques in volatile environments.
- Experience working with Bloomberg, 360T, or other trading systems, is preferred but not mandatory
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Master’s degree (Finance/Economics or related) is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong understanding of liquidity management and capital flows.
- Exceptional analytical and decision-making skills.
- Fluent English is a must (spoken and written); additional languages are a plus.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
- Self-starter, adaptable, and comfortable operating in fast-paced environments.
- Knowledge of Crypto markets and digital assets is a strong plus.
