Temp Project Coordinator (borehole drilling)

Aqua Maya is seeking a mission-driven Project Coordinator for a short-term assignment to support the execution of a borehole drilling project around Gwagwalada, FCT.

As we are a public charity, we are interested in candidates primarily motivated to support our mission. Our mission is to provide clean water to 20 million people in West Africa, and reduce child mortality from waterborne disease.

Aqua Maya is a new nonprofit primarily run by non-compensated volunteers. While there will be basic compensation for this short-term role, we are more interested in candidates who would be happy to do it, even if it was a non-compensated volunteer role.

Expected compensation: N100k/month + basic transportation expenses.

Duration: 2 months.

Project period: Most likely mid August, 2025 - mid October, 2025 (subject to change)

Key Responsibilities

• Scout, organize and serve as a liaison between Aqua Maya, borehole drilling contractors, and community stakeholders.
• Coordinate day-to-day project activities and timelines for the borehole project.
• Facilitate clear communication among all stakeholders to ensure project milestones are met.
• Monitor project progress, prepare regular updates, and address any issues that arise. This will require semi-frequent visits to the project site, about 20 minutes after Gwagwalada.
Support community engagement and ensure local needs and feedback are incorporated into project planning/execution.

Requirements

• Proven experience in project coordination, preferably in water, construction, or community development projects, preferred. Related skills will be considered.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including contractors and community leaders.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Based in the Abuja area. Project site is around Gwagwalada.
Available for a very short-term contract (2 months). However, if the project is well executed, there is a chance of similar temporary contracts in the future.
