The Carrier Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all contracted motor carriers meet the company’s safety, insurance, and legal standards. This role supports the freight brokerage team by managing carrier onboarding, monitoring compliance metrics, and minimizing operational risks related to carrier selection and use.
Key Responsibilities:
Carrier Onboarding:
- Review and verify carrier qualifications, including DOT/MC numbers, insurance certificates, safety ratings, and authority status.
- Ensure carriers meet all internal and legal requirements before activation.
- Maintain updated records in the Transportation Management System (TMS).
Compliance Monitoring:
- Regularly audit carrier files for expiration of insurance, authority, safety scores, and other compliance data.
- Monitor FMCSA, DAT, Carrier411, and similar platforms for changes in carrier status.
- Suspend or deactivate carriers with expired or invalid credentials.
Vendor Communication:
- Liaise with carriers, insurance agents, and factoring companies to gather required documentation.
- Support carrier requalification processes and answer compliance-related inquiries.
System & Reporting:
- Generate and maintain reports on carrier compliance performance and risk mitigation.
