Job Description/Requirements
Role Summary
You will be the editorial engine behind our client deliverables and publications—shaping reports, proposals, insight briefs, grant applications, case studies, decks, and book manuscripts into crisp, credible, publication‑ready work.
Key Responsibilities
Own the end‑to‑end editorial process for projects across sustainability, built environment, leadership, and innovation topics.- Edit for structure, clarity, logic, and tone; line‑edit and copy‑edit; check facts, figures, citations, and permissions.
- Maintain and enforce the DISC Style Guide (plain English, UK spelling, citation styles: Harvard/APA; figure/table standards; accessibility).
- Build and run quality‑assurance checklists (readability scores, source logs, version control, sign‑off sheets).
- Collaborate with consultants, analysts, and designers to turn drafts and data into compelling narratives, visuals, and executive summaries.
- Manage publishing workflows for white papers and books (KDP/traditional), including ISBNs, front/back matter, and metadata.
- Coach contributors to elevate their writing; lead light training sessions on writing and presentation standards.
- Support proposal/grant submissions with compliance checks, templates, and deadline management.
Requirements
3+ years in editorial, research communications, technical writing, or publishing (agency, consultancy, think‑tank, media, or in‑house).- Demonstrable portfolio of edited policy/technical reports or non‑fiction manuscripts.
- Mastery of structure, line, and copy‑editing; strong understanding of data‑driven storytelling.
- Tools: Google Docs/MS 365, Notion, Grammarly, Zotero/Mendeley; familiarity with PowerPoint/Keynote; nice‑to‑have: Figma/Canva, basic Power BI. Bonus: experience in sustainability/ESG, built environment, public sector, or book publishing/KDP.
