We are seeking a highly driven and experienced Poultry Farm Manager to lead the development and management of a new poultry operation. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires building the farm from the ground up, including designing operational systems, forming a capable workforce, and ensuring optimal production standards. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical knowledge in poultry farming and excellent organizational skills, with the ability to report effectively to senior management and ensure full operational readiness.

Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
Farm Establishment and Operational Launch:
- Develop operational plans and oversee the setup of poultry housing, infrastructure, and equipment
- Coordinate with contractors and suppliers to ensure proper setup of facilities and systems Design and implement standard operating procedures across all farm areas
Staffing and Team Development:
- Create staffing structures, role descriptions, and hiring criteria for key farm positions
- Lead the recruitment, onboarding, and training of farm workers and support personnel Foster a positive team culture with clear performance expectations and daily coordination
Poultry Management
- Plan and oversee the full poultry production cycle, including flock introduction, brooding, feeding, health checks, and culling where necessary
- Monitor feed intake, growth rates, vaccination schedules, and bird health to ensure top performance Implement robust biosecurity and hygiene protocols to minimize the risk of disease outbreaks
Production and Performance Monitoring
- Track key performance indicators such as feed conversion ratios, mortality, average daily gain, and yield
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of production, inventory, and workforce activities
- Generate regular operational reports with clear insights and updates to management
Vendor and Supply Coordination
- Identify and manage relationships with suppliers of feed, vaccines, chicks, equipment, and farm inputs Ensure timely procurement and monitor inventory levels to support uninterrupted operations
Facility and Environmental Management
- Supervise maintenance and functionality of poultry housing, ventilation systems, feeding and watering equipment
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure cleanliness, safety, and animal welfare standards are met
Reporting and Communication
- Serve as the primary communication link between farm operations and senior management Provide clear, data-backed updates, including challenges, forecasts, and needs for operational support
Sales and Market Development
- Identify and develop local and regional markets for poultry products (live birds, meat, or eggs)
- Build and manage relationships with wholesalers, retailers, distributors, and direct customers
- Oversee pricing strategies, sales forecasting, and customer order fulfillment
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity to inform production and sales planning
- Ensure proper documentation of all sales, including invoicing, receipts, and delivery coordination Collaborate with finance and operations to align production capacity with market demand
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or HND in Animal Science, Agricultural Science, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in poultry farm management
- Proven ability to launch and scale poultry operations
- Strong knowledge of broiler or layer production, disease prevention, and poultry nutrition
- Experience with modern poultry technologies and environmental control systems
- Proficient in Excel or farm management software
- Fluent in English; knowledge of local Nigerian languages is a plus
- Familiarity with Nigerian poultry farming laws and compliance regulations
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills An MBA or a postgraduate degree in business, agriculture, or operations management is an added advantage
Compensation & Contract Details
- This is a fixed-term contract, with the expectation of becoming permanent based on a successful performance appraisal
- Salary is competitive and will be finalized based on the candidate’s experience and performance during the initial trial period
- A six-month probationary period will apply, during which performance, reliability, and leadership capability will be formally reviewed.
