Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Pipeline Engineer for a contract role based in Warri. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in pipeline construction, inspection, and quality assurance, with the ability to supervise on-site operations and ensure strict compliance with engineering standards, safety protocols, and client specifications.
Qualifications & Requirement
- HND, B.Sc., or B.Eng. in Mechanical, Petroleum, or Civil Engineering (or a related field).
- Professional certifications such as:
- COREN (Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria)
- ASME standards
- API 1104 (Welding of Pipelines and Related Facilities)
- API 1169 (Pipeline Construction Inspection), or equivalent international certifications.
- Minimum of 7 years of practical experience in pipeline engineering, construction, or inspection roles, preferably in oil & gas or energy infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong understanding of welding processes, NDT methods, hydrotesting, and pipeline integrity.
- Excellent reporting and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervision & Compliance:
Ensure that all contractor activities strictly adhere to approved project procedures, engineering codes, and safety/environmental regulations.
- Daily Inspections:
Conduct thorough, on-site daily inspections of pipeline construction activities, including welding, coating, trenching, lowering, and tie-ins.
- ITP Verification:
Monitor project execution to ensure alignment with the Inspection Test Plan (ITP) and ensure that all hold and witness points are properly respected.
- Quality Assurance:
Identify and report non-conformities or deviations from specifications. Recommend corrective actions and follow up to ensure resolution.
- Client Collaboration:
Interface with clients, third-party inspectors, and project managers during site visits, audits, or technical reviews to uphold transparency and quality standards.
- Documentation & Reporting:
Prepare and submit daily inspection reports, photo logs, and relevant documentation in a timely manner.
- Welding Oversight:
Monitor welding procedures, WPS/PQR adherence, and welder qualifications. Track consumables and ensure traceability where required.
- Safety Monitoring:
Promote and enforce safety standards across the site to ensure a zero-incident work environment.
