The Department of Industrial Economics and Technology Management at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) invites applications for a 3-year PhD position within the FME MarTrans research centre, the world’s largest maritime energy transition program.
This research project addresses the critical challenge of decarbonizing maritime transport, focusing on the uncertainties surrounding future fuels, supply chains, infrastructure, and policy frameworks. The selected candidate will develop advanced energy system and maritime transport models to analyze robust transition scenarios, identify potential emergence of green fuels and infrastructure, and assess the impact of new technologies on the shipping sector.
Requirements
– A strong academic background in operations research, energy systems, marine transport, industrial engineering, environmental science, or related fields
– Demonstrated modeling skills
– Interest in addressing large-scale, real-world challenges in energy transition and maritime transport
