The Department of Modern History and Society at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) invites applications for a fully funded PhD position in History. The successful candidate will contribute to the research project “All the names,” focusing on naming practices and their relationship to cultural identity, persistence, and change.
Applicants will have the opportunity to develop their own research agenda within the scope of the project and gain valuable experience for a career in academia or related fields. The position is full-time, based in Trondheim, Norway, and is expected to commence by August 15, 2025 (or September 1, 2025, at the latest).
Requirements
– Master’s degree (or equivalent) in History, Sociology, Anthropology, Cultural Studies, European Studies, or a related discipline
– Strong academic record
– Interest in cultural history and social practices
– Excellent written and spoken English skills
– Ability to work independently and as part of a research team
Funding And Benefits
– Annual salary: NOK 536,200 (approx. £40,796.24), depending on qualifications and seniority
– Full-time employment
– Open to UK, EU, and international students
