The Kavli Institute for Systems Neuroscience at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) invites applications for a PhD position in Developmental Neuroscience within the Quattrocolo research group. The successful candidate will contribute to research on the development of cortical circuits, with a particular focus on the role of different cell types in neuronal network wiring and the mechanisms by which axons establish synaptic targets during development. The project incorporates advanced techniques such as cell-type specific viral vectors, growth cone preparation, flow cytometry, and omics analysis.

Requirements

– Master’s degree in Neuroscience or a related quantitative science discipline (equivalent to a five-year Norwegian course, with at least 120 credits at the master’s level)

– Strong academic background with an average grade of B or better (NTNU grading scale) or equivalent

– Eligibility for admission to the faculty’s Doctoral Programme

– Demonstrated interest in developmental neuroscience

– Proficiency in spoken and written English

– Experience with rodents and relevant certification for animal research (Norway or equivalent)

– Completion of doctoral education leading to a PhD

The position is full-time (100%), with a four-year contract starting in Fall 2025 (start date is flexible). The working language is English, and the environment is international and multidisciplinary.
